Needed: Kidney Donor w/ Blood Type 0+ or 0-

Please Consider. Spread the word. It only takes one person to save a life.

This website exists because my sister, Dalana, deserves a chance—not just to survive, but to live fully again. She’s spent her life showing up for others: as a mother, a friend, and a hardworking professional who never asked for much, even while carrying the quiet weight of a chronic illness. But now, she needs someone—someone with a generous heart and blood type O—to step forward. Our mission is twofold: to help find that one life-saving match, and to remind Dalana every single day that she’s not alone, that her story matters, and that hope is still very much alive. If you’re reading this, you’re already part of that hope.

Dalana's Story

Dalana was born and raised in Coronation, Alberta, a small rural community where her strong work ethic and deep sense of responsibility were first shaped. She later moved to Lethbridge to pursue her post-secondary education. For the past 18 years, Dalana has worked full-time in Edmonton as a Bodily Injury Advisor with TD—a role that demands focus, empathy, and dedication. She has always taken pride in her work, thrived in team settings, and built lasting connections with clients and colleagues alike.

At just 19 years old, Dalana was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy, a chronic kidney disease that has gradually worn down her kidney function over the decades. Despite her diagnosis, she pushed forward, raising her son as a single parent, showing up for her job, and staying active in her community. However, the disease progressed unpredictably, made worse by infections and pregnancy-related complications. By her late 40s, Dalana’s kidney function had declined to the point where she now requires daily peritoneal dialysis just to survive. The physical toll is immense—constant fatigue, chronic nausea, and limited mobility have made even simple tasks a struggle.

Through it all, Dalana remains determined to regain her independence and return to work. But to do that, she needs a living kidney donor. Her rare blood type and heightened sensitivity make the wait especially long. Spreading awareness of her story is crucial—not only to find a match, but to inspire others to consider living donation and to support those fighting silent battles like hers. Dalana's strength is remarkable—but now, she needs our strength, too.

What is IgA Nephropathy? 🤔
IgA Nephropathy is a chronic kidney disease where a protein called IgA builds up in the kidneys, causing inflammation that slowly damages their ability to filter waste from the blood. Dalana was diagnosed with this condition at age 19 after experiencing severe fatigue and alarming symptoms. Over the years, repeated infections, complications, and the natural progression of the disease have caused her kidney function to steadily decline — leading her to this critical point where a kidney transplant is the only path forward.
Living Organ Donor Expense Reimbursement Program❓
Living organ donation is an act of altruism that reduces the wait time for patients in need of a life-saving kidney, partial liver or partial lung. By agreeing to become a living organ donor, donors travel to and from a transplant hospital for a variety of tests and surgery, which may result in financial loss.

The Living Donor Expense Reimbursement Program is a provincial program funded by Alberta Health. The program reimburses some out of pocket expenses and makes it possible to be a living donor, even when living far away from the recipient. The program is designed to remove financial barriers and increase the number of potential donors.
The Living Kidney Donor Program (AHS) 🏥
Alberta residents aged 18+ in good health can undergo a confidential and fully supported evaluation to donate a kidney through Alberta’s Living Donor Services, available in Edmonton and Calgary. Donors can give to someone they know—or choose anonymous donation, with participation in the Kidney Paired Donation (KPD) program if direct compatibility isn’t possible. All medical costs are covered, and donors may qualify for reimbursement of travel and other out-of-pocket expenses. This program saves lives in Alberta every day—your gift could be the hope Dalana needs.

  • Dalana is living with end-stage kidney failure and must undergo exhausting dialysis treatments every single day.

  • The out-of-pocket costs for medications, wound care supplies, and appointments are adding up fast, despite her extended health coverage.

  • She’s unable to work right now and relies on disability income, which doesn’t cover her basic monthly needs.

  • Your donation helps ease the financial strain so she can focus on staying strong and finding a living kidney donor.
